We give and take recommendations all the time. By offering incentives for this behavior, businesses have the ability to stay top of mind when those recommendations are given. Drum allows you to easily create a referral program to incentivize anyone who sends you business. There are a few things you should consider in preparation of leveraging Drum to power your referral program.
Identify your best supporters
Understanding who will make the best references to you is the first step to creating your referral program. Identifying current customers is definitely a great place to start, not to mention any business partnerships or vendors you work with. Also, consider listening for organic referrals happening on social media. All of these are an engaged audience who can help promote your business.
Determine how you want to promote your referral program
Consider posting an opportunity that not only gives your referrers an incentive to promote your business (by offering a commission), but also an opportunity that provides value to potential customers. This is a win-win-win for you, your supporters, and your new customers. For inspiration of potential opportunities, check out our example article.
Reach Out
Think about the different mediums you can share your new referral program. Including it in email signatures, order confirmation emails, or a dedicated landing page on your web site are great ways to keep it top of mind.
When you are ready to share the news of your referral opportunity, Drum gives you a unique link that you can share with your supporters. Simply click your business name at the top right corner of the screen and then scroll down to “Invite your customers to promote your opportunities.” From there you can copy and paste your unique link and share it in any of your communication.
Follow up and show appreciation
The commission incentive is great and definitely shows gratitude for the work that goes into sending referrals. Sending a direct message of appreciation to anyone who sends you successful referrals is also good way to keep your Drummers loyal.
