Drummer Earnings, Commissions, and Bonuses Explained

Here are details about Drummer Earnings including ways to earn, when you earn, and payout amounts. We’ve tried to be as specific and clear as possible but please get in touch if you have questions. To give you our official legal disclaimer -- we may adjust these in the future.

General Terminology

  • Commission: amount earned by a Drummer when an offer they share is redeemed
  • Redemption: when a Business scans a Drum offer, presented at the point of sale by a Buyer, to mark it as completed, purchased or otherwise validated. In other words, a Buyer bought the thing and the Business confirmed it. 
  • Business Bonus: what Drum pays a Drummer for bringing a new business onto the platform
  • Buyer Bonus: what Drum pays a Drummer for recruiting a new buyer to sign up and redeem offers on the mobile app
  • Drummer Bonus: what Drum pays a Drummer for recruiting a new Drummer or when a previously recruited Drummer recruits other Drummers (secondary recruit).
    • Direct Referral (Drummer Bonus 1): Drummer directly recruits another Drummer
    • Community Referral (Drummer Bonus 2): Drummer recruited by a recruited Drummer. Secondary Drummer recruiting. 

Business Bonus

Activating a new business gives you a 5% bonus on every offer redeemed at that Business for 24 months.

    • Workflow: 
      • Drummer Alex tells Acme Company about Drum and shares their referral link or code.
      • Acme Company signs up for Drum via the website for Businesses and enters Drummer Alex’s referral code during sign up.
      • Drum pays Drummer Alex a 5% bonus for 24 months from Acme Company’s sign up date.
      • Drummer Alex’s bonus amount is 5% of the commission for every offer redeemed at Acme Company.
    • Example: 
      • Acme Company has 10 redemptions for Offer A. Commission for Offer A is $500. Drummer Alex gets $25 per redemption, $250 total. 

Business Bonus Notes: 

  • Business Bonus is not deducted from Drummer commission; it’s additional money paid by Drum. 
  • Businesses must use Drummer’s referral code when signing up. This can’t be done retroactively.
  • A Business is activated when:
    • It posts its first offer within 30 days of sign up
    • It redeems its first offer within 60 days of sign up

Buyer Bonus

Activating a new Buyer gives you a 3% bonus on every offer redeemed by that Buyer for 24 months.

  • Drummer Alex tells Buyer Brit about Drum and shares their referral link or code.
  • Buyer Brit downloads the Drum app and enters Drummer Alex’s referral code when signing up.
  • Drum pays Drummer Alex a 3% bonus on every Offer Buyer Brit redeems for 24 months from Buyer Brit’s first app sign-in date.
  • Bonus amount is 3% of the commission for every offer redeemed by Buyer Brit
    • Buyer Brit redeems Offer A. Commission is $50. Drummer Alex gets $1.50 from Drum.
    • Buyer Brit redeems Offer B. Commission is $100. Drummer Alex gets $3.00 from Drum. 

Buyer Bonus Notes: 

  • Buyer Bonus is not deducted from Drummer commission; it’s additional money paid by Drum. 
  • A Buyer must use Drummer’s referral code when signing up. This can’t be done retroactively.
  • A Buyer is activated when:
    • Buyer redeems at least 1 offer within 60 days of sign up

Drummer Direct Bonus

Activating a new Drummer gives you a 15% bonus on every offer redeemed by that Drummer for 24 months.

  • Drummer Alex tells Pat about Drum including sharing referral link or code.
  • Pat signs up to be a Drummer and enters Drummer Alex’s referral code when signing up.
  • Drum pays Drummer Alex a 15% bonus for 24 months from Drummer Pat’s first app sign in date.
  • Bonus amount paid to Drummer Alex from Drum is 15% of every commission that Drummer Pat earns
    • Example: Drummer Pat earns $100.00 commission for Offer A. Drummer Alex gets $15.00 from Drum.
    • Drummer Pat earns $25.00 commission for Offer B. Drummer Alex gets $3.75.

Drummer Community Bonus

A referred Drummer who activates a new Drummer receives a 2.25% bonus on every offer redeemed by that new Drummer for 24 months. 

Example:

  • Drummer Alex signs up Drummer Pat (Alex receives a Direct Bonus). Drummer Pat signs up Drummer Taylor (Pat receives a Direct Bonus) when following the Direct guidelines and using a referral code. 
  • Drum pays Drummer Alex a 2.25% Community Bonus when Pat signs up Taylor (in addition to paying Drummer Pat a 15% Direct Bonus for signing up Taylor). 
  • Drummer Taylor earns $100.00 commission for Offer A. Drummer Pat earns $15. Drummer Alex earns $2.25. 

Drummer Bonus Notes

  • Drummer Bonuses are not deducted from Drummer commission; it’s additional money paid by Drum. 
    • E.g., no Drummer referral loses out on their commission to the Drummer who referred them. All Bonuses are paid directly from Drum.
  • Drummer Bonuses apply to your direct referrals and direct referrals of your direct referrals (2nd degree). They don’t extend further, e.g. do not apply for 3rd-degree referrals (aka referrals of referrals of referrals).  
  • There is no limit on the number of Drummer Direct Referrals or Drummer Community Referrals. You could have 1000+ Direct Referrals who could each have 100+ Referrals. Go you!
  • Drummer Bonuses are based only on offer commissions earned. You don't earn a % of Business or Buyer Bonuses.  

For each redeemed offer, Drum could pay the following: 

  • Up to 1 Drummer Commission
  • Up to 1 Drummer Direct Referral Bonus
  • Up to 1 Drummer Community Referral Bonus
  • Up to 1 Buyer Bonus
  • Up to 1 Business Bonus

When an offer is redeemed, Drum could pay out all of these or some of these, depending on referral and activation statuses. 

FAQs

What does “sign up date” mean?

  • Sign up date = when the user first successfully logs into the Drum app.
  • It’s not profile creation
  • It’s not if they start sign up but don’t complete it 

How does the 24 month time limit work for Drummer Community Bonuses? 

  • A Drummer is eligible for Drummer Community Bonuses for any Drummers signed up within 24 months of a Direct Drummer sign up. Those Community Bonuses last for 24 months from sign up even if the Direct Drummer bonus has expired. 

Example

  • Drummer Alex signs up Taylor, a Direct (1st degree) Drummer at Month 1
  • Direct Drummer Taylor signs up Pat 19 months later in Month 20; Drummer Taylor receives Direct Drummer Referral Bonus.
  • Drummer Alex earns a Community Bonus (2nd degree) for Drummer Pat for 24 months from Pat’s sign up date, e.g. until Month 44 since Pat was referred in Month 20.
  • If Drummer Taylor signs up a new Drummer at Month 25, Drummer Alex won’t be eligible for a Community Bonus for that Drummer. The 24-month timeframe has passed.
